To All Women Golfers at Ridgeway Country Club

The Ridgeway Ladies Golf Association Board invites you to join the RLGA for the 2023 season. Plans are under way for another year of golf, good fellowship, and friendly competition. We encourage new and beginning golfers, as well as experienced golfers, to join us. This year we will be offering more learning opportunities for all levels of players. Learning to play golf with this great group of women promises to build lasting friendships in a fun and nurturing environment.

RLGA has three weekly standing golf games available for 9-hole and 18-hole players. Our play days are: Tuesday late afternoon, Wednesday morning and Saturday morning. We encourage you to golf as often as you wish! The forward red tees have been in place more than three years and are a great addition to our challenging championship golf course. Members choose which set of tees they prefer to play, but generally 9-hole players play the forward tees.

Special Opportunities Include Many Of Our RLGA Traditions Plus Some New Events.

  • Opening Season Meet and Greet
  • Golf clinics for beginning golfers who wish to learn basic skills
  • Inter/Advanced clinics for those who wish to fine tune their game
  • Complimentary pre-season golf clinics by our golf professionals
  • Guest Days – your guest pays only cart fees
  • Play with the Pros Event
  • A variety of fun events all season long
  • Interclub Opportunities (9 and 18 hole)
  • Season-long “dream card” tournament

I look forward to your participation! Our goal is to encourage all women golfers to join and play, no matter their experience or skill level.

      PLAY DAY OPTIONS
There are several official RLGA play day offerings each week:

      • Tuesday afternoon 9-holes – 4:00 p.m. shotgun

Saturday tee times are subject to change due to scheduled events. Starting times for Wednesday may be earlier during the summer months.

RLGA members are encouraged to play as often as they like and will receive one point for attendance per week. Players will be eligible for points from one round played for each week regardless of the number of rounds played. For the purposes of RLGA’s play, the week will begin on Tuesday and ends after the Saturday round.

      PLAY DAY POINT SYSTEM
Each player chooses her preferred tees and points will be allocated based upon attendance as shown below. If a player plays on more than one play day, she should draw a line through the score she does not want to count.

      PLAY DAY POINTS
      • Attendance – 1 point
      • Birdies – 1 point
      • Eagles – 2 points
      • Hole-in-One – 5 points

      TOURNAMENT AND FUN DAY POINTS
      Attendance – 1 point
Fun Day first place – 5 points
Fun day second place – 3 points

PLAY DAY SIGN UP AND PAIRINGS PROCEDURES
An email will go out weekly to the RLGA membership regarding that week’s play. Players will sign up for Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday play with the Pro Shop. Saturday play requires signing up by Wednesday at noon to be included in the RLGA tee times.

Please arrive at the cart area NO LATER THAN 15 MINUTES PRIOR TO TEE TIME for random pairing drawing and tee box instructions.

      RLGA SCORING PROCEDURES
Write your full name, date and tees played on the scorecard. Have another player attest the scorecard. Post scoring information (gross and net scores) in the appropriate book; also post hole scores in the Dream Board Notebook. Leave your scorecard in the appropriate box on the desk in the locker room. Be sure to hang your Birdies, Eagles and Holes-in-One on the “Birdie Tree”. Weekly winners will be congratulated through email to the RLGA membership.

ENTER YOUR OWN SCORE for the round in the GHIN system by using the Pro Shop computer or the GHIN app on your phone. Be sure to enter every score, every time.

      RLGA CUP
The RLGA Cup is a season-long tournament to recognize the golfer who achieves the best results for the rounds played. The award is a permanent trophy cup with the name of each year’s winners. The RLGA Cup replaces the former RLGA Championship (not be confused with the Ridgeway Ladies Championship), which was a one-day event.

Cup play is separate from regular league play; Cup play days are designated on the RLGA calendar. There are six designated Cup play days. To be eligible for the competition, a player must play at least three rounds on designated Cup play days. In addition to be eligible for consideration, RLGA Cup players MUST play a minimum of 3 non-tournament rounds during the RLGA season.

Nine-hole players will play from Red tees. Eighteen-hole players will play from the Combo tees.

Cup players will receive 2 attendance day points for the week because the cup score will not be recorded on the play day scoring sheet. Cup players will enter their name, the date and the word “CUP” in the 9-hole or 18-hole scoring book for that day. The score card should be turned in to the Pro Shop where scores will be tabulated and kept for the duration of the season. The Pro Shop will announce the Cup winner at the closing meeting. Prizes will be awarded for first and second place finishers in both the 9 and 18-hole categories.

Dream Board – Cup Players should enter improved hole scores in the Dream Board Book for that day.

Birdie-Tree – Cup Players should hang birds on the Birdie Tree for birdies, eagles and holes-in-one.

If in the same week, the Cup Player wants to play on a Tuesday and/or Saturday, she may enter her name, the date and score for the round in either the 9- or 18-hole score book. If a player plays on Tuesday and Saturday, only one score will count. A player should draw a line through the score she does not want to count. No attendance play day point is given for either day since the RLGA Cup attendance will be recorded.
